“Some of the best food I've had in New York City. I'm not joking.” —Isaac Likes
Some of the illest culinary talent in the world is from the Bronx. A lot of it can be found on White Plains Road.
We took Isaac Likes to White Plains Road in the Bronx and showed him where the best places for a quick bite are. Loved and eaten by the community that lives there. Most of these spots are cash only (or have signage that say cash preferred) and that's how you know the food is good.
Kingston Tropical Bakery
This is up for debate, but you got two spots for patties. Kingston Bakery definitely got the best cocoa bread since I can remember, and their signage? Best in the city. If you wanna do it right, get cocoa bread here and then hit the next spot for patties.
Champion Bakery
Some people swear by the patties at Champion, next door. Here’s the move: take half a piece of the cocoa bread from Kingston, rip that in half, then eat that with the patty. Textural masterpiece.
Green Garden Juice Shop
Brother Roy's, aka Green Garden Sea Moss, before Hailey Bieber and Erewhon, ya dig? Shoutout to Erewhon though, they sell our shit. Green smoothie is my go-to with a little Tiger Balm for the nighttime activities. This is a family biz with West Indian-inspired juices. Pull up, get right.
Feroza’s Roti Shop & Bakery
Shout out to my mom for putting me onto all these fly spots. You gotta make sure that chicken don’t got bones in it, though. But if you know, you know. This is the spot for roti.
